What is the difference between portrait and the printable in ads print ?  Printable, generally refers to the picture output which is very large, such as the billboard picture in the freeway which is the output of printable machine. Output machines are NRU SALSA 3200,colour God 3200 and so on, the maximum width is 3.2 meters, The media used by printer is advertising cloth (commonly named AFBM) and unstuousness ink. In order to keep the durability of the picture, the general picture color is a little deeper than the monitor. Generally, the actual output of the picture resolution only needs 30 ~ 45DPI (according to print requirements), the size of actual piocture is relatively large, about  a hundred square meters area.

Generally portrait refers to indoor use , the size of output picture is only a few square meters. For instance, The max width of output picture is 1.5m by HP500 Portrait machine . The media by Portrait machiine are PP paper, film, stuousness ink. After output picture, tectorial membrane and adhesive backing, the products can be finishe-d, moreover the output resolution is up to 300-1200DPI(different models are different), the colour is relatively saturated and clear.

Let us briefly introduce some simple requirements about picture making and the output pictures in Portrait.

1. Size

The size of printable picture is the same as the actual requirement of the picture. But it does not like printing, not printing margin. In printing company, after the output pictures, there will be a margin which is 10cm far from the

actual picture. You can negociate with the printable company about edge for buttonholing. The price is calculated by per square meter, so the picture size in centimeters as a unit will be ok.

2.The requirement of picture resolution

If the screen is big and also use the printing resolution, the computer should be exhausted. But there is no standard on printable resolution. The following resolutions used by myself is according to different sizes, you can refer to picture square Area (square meters) 180 - Infinity 30 --- 180 1 - 30 Resolution (dpi ) 11.25 22.5 45.

Direction:Because the printable machiner are mostly 11.25DPI, 22.5DPI and 45DPI as the picture requirements , the rational picture resolution can speed up the pace of making map.

Portrait generally is 72DPI/inch, if the image is overlarge (such as in PHOTOSHOP new images showing the actual size over 400M), you can reduce the resolution appropriately, just control it in 400m.

3.The requirements of Image model

Normally printable uses the CMKY mode and ban RGB model. Now the printable machine  are four-color printers, the color is different with the printing, of course,  in accordance with the standards of printing, printable company will adjust the picture color to the sample.

Portrait can use CMKY mode, also can use RGB model. Please note that the value of red in RGB is definited by CMKY ,namely M = 100 Y = 100.

4.Requirements of black part of pictures

The pictures of portrait and printable are prohibited use a single black, which must fill with C, M, Y color, if it is 100% black. can be made : C = 50 M = 5 Y = 50 K = 100. Especially in PHOTOSHOP with its effect, please change the black part into four black, otherwise the picture will appear dark black part and affect the overall effect.

5.Picture storage requirements:

Portrait and printable had better store fort TIF format without compressed format.

The size of the printable. Sometimes there should be left printing margin, otherwise the size of printing is smaller than the size of the computer when the machine shrinks the cloth, Especially the big picture, it is more apparent. Generally we put 0.1m printing margin. Of course, that depends to your own company.

The colour of the picture. If the customer asks to scan the photos for portraits, We suggest not to change color mode into CMYK mode. The original color mode can be adjusted slightly. Of course, it can denpends to the results of scanners.
Portrait can print by RGB directly, but
printable can not, the color by printable different too much. Image storage requirements. It is always tif mode, but also can be saved compressed mode. About points, That depends on the circumstances. Generally
£¬printable is 30dpi, portrait 72dpi. If the screen is too big, you can compress it. I have done the minimum points of 10dpi and 300 square. If  bigger, you can divide a fews files to manufacture. Portrait generally can not  be less than 50dpi. If the point is Small, the screen will not be vague, but will generate strong serration. on the contrary,Increasing points and widening picture, will become vague and serrations are obviously less. Generally, you can do them meantime, at your discretion.

Most of painting companies demande use tiff and cmyk mode, moreover the jpg format is available too .Compression ration must be more than 8, or the quality of the pictures can not guarantee. The small original image and the fuzzy after widening, you can increase noises appropriately.
